Spontaneity!

Hello friends!

I recently have found myself with time off work, as it is approaching a long holiday weekend in my little corner of the world I thought of surprising the Working Man.

As we were having our nightly conversation I causally mentioned that I happened to have a wee amount of time off and how utterly bored I would be between procrastination and studying for 2 exams (which are pretty much multi choice so no problem there) and he thought it would be a fantastic idea to fly me up and jumped at the chance of being able to see me again. So the 3 month wait turned into just one, frantically searching and booking flights it is just over a week and counting. I'm so excited!

Being spontaneous is such a great feeling and I could definitely hear the change in his voice as it lifted his spirits. Spontaneity doesn't have to mean jumping on a plane to go see a loved one, it can be something simple like writing a letter or a nice note to anyone, it's the small things that count and it is those small things that we remember as we grow older (as I think 'back in my day...'). Even such activities as taking a picnic, nothing fancy, like a few sandwiches and going down to the local park or beach and making the most of your time with somebody special, family or friends, you name it!  Try at least once a week to do something spontaneous for someone, even a small bunch of flowers, I'm sure they will love it. Like I said it's the thought that counts...

What kind of activities do you find fun to do with family and friends? Please share, I'm sure we could all learn something new from one anther.

Much love from my corner,
SP x

Spring is here!

You can really start to tell that Spring is in the air. The sun comes out, flowers popping up everywhere and I find people are just generally more happy (I can definitely relate to that). I find that photos just don't really capture the fully potential of an image but here are a few snaps of why I just love spring...

What do you love the most about spring? It would be great to hear your response,

Much Love

Updating Fail...

Hey Guys!

So if you read my last blog post you will know that I am not that greatest at technology so like to stick with the tried and tested.

Well I saw I had an update for my phone and iTunes, now I previously have not installed any of these updates before because Working Man had done this on his iPod a few months ago and it messed around with most of his apps and it now doesn't work properly. So I was trying to be the wise guy and not update to be safe.

But what a nightmare! Wise guy me thought maybe the fix to my Snapchat problems is that I just need to update my iOS, but how wrong I was!

Now the first thing to do before updating is backup your phone/computer. Check.
Now to install software. Check. (Except this is where it went wrong, very wrong...)

My iTunes was not up-to-date so I could therefore not plug in my phone, which had just updated and needed to access iTunes for my data. Hence I (stupidly) unplugged and plugged my phone back in wiping my information, resetting my entire phone. Major face palm #1.

Next my iTunes would not update because my computer needed Windows 10, which I had not installed because I thought: Who needs Windows 10 when Windows 7 works just fine? Well I finally realised why I now needed it when it was to late... Major face palm #2

What a sleepless night that was and I was on the verge of a trowing everything against the wall and giving up! but luckily I didn't because the good news was that after work the next day I spent the entire evening trying to fix my mistake and it worked (I feel so relieved)! All my data is back and all my software is up-to-date.

So guys stay on top of your updates! Don't try to be the wise guy like me and think that you don't need to do this kind of stuff, trust me I learnt my lesson. Chin up and try and fix it, it just might work like it did for me.

Has something like this ever happened to any of you? Hopefully you were able to recover?

Just a little thought from my corner, Love

P.S: The update didn't fix my Snapchat.

Snapchat selfie craze!

Hi Guys!

This has been on my mind for the past week now and I have accepted and moved on. But I'd like to share some thoughts on the craze of snapping that has been going on.

I am pretty sure that by now everybody knows about the new filters on Snapachat, from puking rainbows, crying tears to scary faces! I have been bombarded with these since the day the update came out.

Now I'm not a great one keeping up with technology. I only got an iPhone last year, which happened to be from Sister #1 as she got a new one after dropping hers in the toilet (my worst nightmare!) and  her replacement happened to be a 4s and she decide to upgrade, kindly donating the redundant replacement to me.

Now imagine my disappointment when I could not get these filters to work! After consulting a couple of colleagues at work and multiple websites I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be rainbow-puking/ tear-less, unable to scare my fellow snapchaters. But knowing I can now delight in watching others making ridiculous faces makes me feel a little better.

I will not be giving up on Snapchat though, I am dedicated to taking many selfies and many cat pictures! How has it been going for you? Are you enjoying this update, let me know which is your favourite filter?!

Hopefully, one day soon Snapchat will expand to us old technology lovers.

Winter to Spring

Hi Guys!

Well it certainly has been a while and I'm really sorry I haven't been around. It has been a tough few months and those winter blues definitely crept in and kept me under the covers.

But the spring is here! Time to spring into action (terrible pun!) and enjoy the lovely weather that is on its way.

While I have been hibernating, I've also been super busy! I have moved my belongings out of home, had a wee holiday/ unpacking break and started a new semester of university.

My partner, lets call him Working Man, recently got a new job, which happened to be in another town! So over a couple of weeks we packed up our belongings (and what a lot we did have) and went for the road trip of a life time! Now about two years ago over the Easter break we decide to plan a road trip, two weeks of tiki-touring around our country and it was great fun, except it decided to rain the entire time. Now with our big move we were tracing the same path but this time we had a massive trailer to pull behind our truck, but the weather was fantastic! It was a great experience but not one I wish to relive, so next a move comes around I recommend hiring a moving truck, seriously. But I feel it did bring the Working Man and I closer together.

So that has been my life for the past few months. I am still packing up a few bits and pieces here and there, plus it is a bit of a struggle realizing that I won't be able to see the Working Man for a few months but that is the great thing about technology! We pretty much Skype and ring each other every night so its great. Bring on December as he is flying home because we are both graduating (fingers crossed for me!) and  plus it will be closer to Christmas and be so festive! But that is ages away and we are getting ahead of ourselves here.

Just a little update from my corner of the world, much love

Summer to Fall

Hello world!

February has come and gone, gracing us with her lovely weather and we delighting in her presence. Now we begin to breeze into the Autumnal era of March! What a month it shall be!

I have begun my second week of university, how it feels as if nothing has changed and those three/ four months of holidays never existed and summer was all but a dream.

Organisation is the key to my weeks at this point in time and staying on top of work. This includes actually attending tutorials and beginning to plan my essays. But as i mentioned it is only my second week and the night is still young....

On a side note it is my birthday in eight days and i am looking forward to turning 23! I have quite a bit planned, so i look forward to keeping you all posted!

Much love from my corner of ponder,

The Smile in Retail...

Hello Friends!

So i have been working quite a bit over the summer, between sleeping and sorting out preparations for going back to university. Now as you might gather from the blog post title i work in the retail area, a fantastic part-time job I've had for some time now since high school and I'm sure anyone who works in retail has good days and a few not so great ones....

As i was day-dreaming my way through the hours of "Hello! How are you today?" and "My, what do you think of this weather?" Followed up with a "Hope you are ready for Christmas!?" A little Pondering quietly raised her hand up and asked "How do we deal with customers?"

On a side note, I'm known at work for my, shall we say 'interesting resting-face'... I'm a shy gal, an introvert, until you get to know me and then i cant keep quiet.

So  on this particular day i was dreaming along feeling, or so i thought, pleasant. Not  a 'this is a fantastic day!' or even 'im ready to go home right now.' I was in the pleasant middle-ground, until a customer pointed out a need  to 'Smile.' or an "it's not that bad love."

I'm curious for your thoughts on how you or even others would deal with this situation? Constantly being told to smile - and i do, trust me! Even on those not so fantastic days...

Is it hurtful? Being told to do something, especially when you are already trying so hard to do so?A reminder that our exterior is slipping and we need to reach for the ladder to pull it back up? Or do  you find comments like this or others helpful?

Leave a comment on how you might deal with a moment like this, especially in different areas of retail.

Just one of the things She Pondered x
